Helping Your Waistline Survive the Holiday Week

Back to Weight Loss & Nutrition Tips

Here are a few quick tips for keeping energized
- and not devitalized -
this Fourth of July Week

Eat breakfast.

Breakfast is an easy meal to skip in the busy Summer months. This seems especially true during the holidays when the thinking seems to be: "I'm going to save it all up for the big barbecue." Your esophagus spends all morning crying out for a morsel of attention, and once the afternoon rolls around, you tackle that spread on the picnic table like a middle linebacker. Obviously, the best way to eat healthy is to continue to eat in your normal three to six regular-sized meals throughout the day, instead of one Titanic-sized feast that's going to make you sink to the floor. Eat a generous breakfast so that you won't be dying for the frying to begin!

Eat in intervals.

If you are trying to lose weight or remain trim, the best way to keep your metabolism in gear is to consume several smaller-portioned meals throughout the day. In other words, on days like the Fourth, don’t starve yourself waiting for the big calorie bang. Perhaps, eat a light meal when the servings are first going around. Then, after the main carnage has finished, venture back for a few leftovers. Maybe, later in the evening, pick away at a little more. This will keep that metabolism working overtime.

Drink water.

H2O really is the formula for staying healthy and fit. Try to drink several glasses of water throughout the day, especially before you sit down for your barbecue feast. Not only is water great for keeping you lean and hard, it will also help keep you healthy and hydrated in the heat.

With just a bit of effort and planning you can totally enjoy yourself this Summer holiday season and still maintain the physique you have worked so hard to develop!
